Police urged to sum up experience of maintaining security for major events

Senior Chinese leader Zhou Yongkang has called on police officers to sum up experience in maintaining securitrift gold
y for major events to better safeguard the country.

Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks in a written directive to a symposium of provincial police chiefs, which was held in Shanghai on Sunday.

The police should adapt to changes in international and domestic situation, master the general patterns, and build a strong force of public security with innovative ideas and improved mechanisms, so as to enhance the capability to ensure national security and social stability, Zhou said.

The Chinese police have accomplished tasks to ensure the safety of major event in recent years, including the rift platinumBeijing Olympic Games, the Shanghai World Expo, the Guangzhou Asian Games and celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
